About Category
About This Category
This award is to recognise industry-leading performance by a company, association or individual, between January 2022 and January 2023 in making specific efforts to champion and develop a diverse and inclusive culture within the geotechnical sector and/or their own organisation.
The entry should demonstrate how the organisation or individual is championing change and fostering a more diverse and inclusive industry and workforce. It should also describe how this is helping to attract and retain talent within the industry or company.
This can be illustrated at head office, project or initiative level, and can be focused on the role an individual is playing in driving change.
About This Entry
Entry Title
Charity Rose
Entry Description
Charity Rose has worked exceptionally hard to improve inclusivity on-site in a predominantly male environment and more widely promotes ED&I and STEM activities for the benefit of all. After spending several months on site, Charity took on the challenge of raising the ED&I standards expected on-site.
Charity started her campaign by launching a petition and raised the issue on LinkedIn through trade and national press. She wrote to her MP and relevant government ministers and had correspondence with the director of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). She met with members of the HSE before Christmas 2022; they stated that her perseverance had made a difference in the level of interest in welfare, and hopefully, that will translate into a change in attitude and behaviour on sites.
In addition, she helps run internal company events covering ED&I and STEM and regularly receives praise at all levels within and outside Atkins.
