Contractor of the Year
About Category
About This Category
This category celebrates the achievements of geotechnical contractors or specialist geotechnical divisions within general contracting firms that can demonstrate achievement of clear business milestones over the last year. The award will celebrate firms that have continually delivered innovation, quality and value between January 2022 and January 2023, while improving the business and making it more profitable.
Entrants must be able to use projects undertaken as examples to show their technical capabilities in delivering projects beyond the expectations of their clients, within budget and on time.
Judges will also consider the contractor's approach to coping with challenges on site, interacting with the supply chain and improving the wellbeing of its staff.
About This Entry
Entry Description
In 2022 Soil Engineering delivered major geotechnical works across the UK, increasing both revenue and profits, yet at the same time significantly decreasing their carbon footprint. Undertaking critical ground investigations on schemes including the A417 Air Balloon, HS2 and East Airdrie Link Road, stabilising both mine entries and workings in settings as diverse as Cumbria, Buckinghamshire and North Ayrshire, and expanding their Instrumentation and Monitoring service to cover major infrastructure projects including significant proportions of HS2, they have aimed to achieve growth while decreasing their environmental impact. And they have succeeded! Trough innovation and cultural change, their works were delivered at over 7% less carbon than in 2021, and almost 35% less carbon per £ revenue than in their 40by30 benchmark year of 2018.
