The award will celebrate firms that have continually delivered innovation, quality and value during this period, while improving the business and making it more profitable. Entrants should demonstrate how they have improved the wellbeing of their staff. Companies must also use evidence from projects to show how the business’s technical abilities have gone beyond the expected level of service for clients and the supply chain

BakerHicks, part of the Morgan Sindall Group, are a relative newcomer to the Ground Engineering sector, establishing its in-house design team in 2020. Over the last three years the team has grown sustainably and profitably to a size of fourteen engineers, geologists and geo-environmental staff. The team delivers major infrastructure and building design in complex and sustainable projects. The team has solved challenging ground engineering problems across the UK on nationally significant pieces of infrastructure. These include the West Coast Main Line and a new 160km power distribution line in Scotland. The team’s largest commission to date was successfully delivered in 2022 for a geohazard assessment on the whole of Scotland’s Rail Network. Through 2022 the ground engineering team increased in number by 27% with turnover increasing 36% and a sustained profit margin. In 2022 the team further developed its service offering by adding Geo-Environmental capability.
