This category is open to any company that can show excellence through new product or technology development for the ground engineering industry between January 2022 and January 2023. Entrants must demonstrate how the innovative new product or technology has delivered benefits in health and safety, in-use performance, sustainability or cost during on site delivery of a geotechnical project. Evidence to show how the product or technology can improve the performance or quality of service that the purchasing company offers to its clients is essential.

Foundation and ground improvement system with enlarged base

The PAILE system enables the installation of foundation and ground improvement piles with enlarged, prestressed bases, of a range of capacities. Using this method, piles are created at a significantly reduced cost, material, CO2 emission and time when compared with currently available techniques. Exact saving, in a range of 40-70%, depends on the site ground conditions. Additionally, during installation (single, continuous & controlled process), the load capacity of each PAILE is verified which enables on-site pile depth adjustment and therefore reduces risk. These static test measurements from across the site are then analysed to deliver a comprehensive site risk profile and enable further optimisation of the infrastructure design. PAILE is a long-awaited, unprecedented step change in the piling industry.
