Entry Title
The repurposing of Supcat ATMPs for the geotechnical industry
Entry Description
Structural Soils Ltd have chosen to repurpose various Supacat All Terrain Mobility Platforms (ATMP). These are 6 wheel drive, multi-purpose vehicle, designed by the British army for use in the geotechnical industry. SSL has expanded its ATMP fleet to four and with custom built additions, in collaboration with our supplier, low ground bearing trailers and tilt trailers to eliminate the need for telescopic handlers on soft ground.
The adoption and development of the fleet of ultra-low bearing pressure (2psi) ground investigation vehicles strongly aligns to the UN climate goals. Soil compaction increases soil bulk density and soil strength, while decreases porosity, aggregate stability index, soil hydraulic conductivity and nutrient availability, thus reduces soil health. Due to the nature of the military fitted engine, these machines can run on any diesel variant fuel including HVO for reduced carbon impact as well as neat vegetable oils.
