Entrants must demonstrate how the innovative new product or technology has delivered benefits in health and safety, in-use performance, sustainability or cost during on site delivery of a geotechnical project. Evidence to show how the product or technology can improve the performance or quality of service that the purchasing company offers to its clients is essential.

Articulated Sampling Tool for Restricted Access (A.S.T.R.A)

Concept set out to design a whole new piece of equipment from scratch to meet Client’s requirements to obtain high-quality continuous undisturbed samples with minimum disruption to the normal operations of the asset, and at optimum cost. The result is our Articulated Sampling Tool for Restricted Access (A.S.T.R.A), a new method of difficult access geotechnical sampling which has been fully developed, manufactured and tested by Concept. A.S.T.R.A. is an easily dismountable hydraulic rams system with the ability to push undisturbed thin wall UT100, thick wall U100, piston or other sampler tubes into the target material to recover high-quality samples. It is articulated and can be used at 30°, 45°, 60° and 90° angles as required. It’s versatile, portable and can be broken down into manageable pieces to carry to location. It's also powered by an electric powerpack, providing significant carbon reduction and an overall more environmentally sustainable method of work.
